Almost 5 months ago I became a mommy. It’s an amazing feeling that I can’t even describe but trust me when I say you’re never going to be 100% ready. I’m still learning new things every single day but with a little help from my friends and the internet, I made a list with small things that can help every new breastfeeding mom. I’m no professional midwife or anything but these baby stuff helped me big time when I needed it.

  1. Breast pump + storage bags – I tried different types of breast pumps and at the end it turned out I only needed this simple and cheap way to express my milk. It works well when you’re feeding during the night to save the licking milk from the other breast. I know it sounds weird but it’s helpful and you’ll be surprised how much milk you’re throwing away while breastfeeding. You don’t have to pump out a full bottle with one pump. Usually I do 2-3 pumps while I’m breastfeeding starting at night and save the milk in a bottle in the fridge until I’m happy with the quantity. And then I put it in the freezer. You have up to 12 hours before the milk is not good for freezing.

2. Nursing pads – Very helpful, specially in the first couple of months when your breasts don’t know what’s happening and the milk is leaking every hour of every day. You can either use disposal or reusable which you can clean in the washing machine.

3. Nursing tops – For all the mammas that don’t like nursing bras. I’ve been using these during day and night with some nursing pads in. Game changer! I can’t recommend enough. I found mine in HM and I’m pretty happy with them.

4. Sleeping bag + one-piece pyjamas – I found out about baby’s sleeping bags and I haven’t used a blanket ever since. The trick is to find one that will fit well and it’ll last at least 4-5 months. There’re also different materials for cold and warm weather. If you see number 1 tog on the label, the bag is thinner for warm weather and 2,5 tog is for colder/ winter time. Some sizes are weird so be careful if you don’t wanna spend a lot of money trying to find a good fit. I’m happy with these one:

One-piece pyjamas are easy to put on and useful in the first months when the baby’s nappy needs to be change every half an hour. Quick and easy just take the legs out of the pyjamas, change with a clean nappy and back to playing. I prefer the ones with buttons but the zipper one are good as well. Honestly, you don’t have to buy hundreds of clothes because they gonna get small quickly and you won’t even have the time to use them all. All you need is 5-6 of these pyjamas and some bodysuits if it’s a cold weather outside and you’re good to go.

5. 5 in 1 baby bouncer, rocker, swing, cot, chair – We are in love with this bouncer. It’s an easy switch between functions and you can use it up to 3 years so it’s a good investment. What more I can say. Instead of buying different types of chairs and bouncers, this multifunction cot will save you money and space.

I hope you find it helpful. If you have any tips or questions for me you’re welcome to leave a comment.
