Look Fantastic beauty box – March

New post – new series on the blog. I’ve decided to start this monthly reviews of subscription boxes – from beauty boxes to books and geeky stuff. I used to get them every month but that was few years ago and I think more of the brands changed a lot of things so I want to see and compare them.

Just a heads up, everything I write is in my own honest opinion and everything you see as products is bought with my own money so there’s no paid advertising.

Look Fantastic?

I’m starting with a box from an online shop that I didn’t even know they do beauty boxes. I’ve been a regular customer to Look Fantastic for years. They have everything – from hair masks and sprays to face masks and glitter. Recently I found out they do monthly subscription boxes with 6-7 face and body products so I was curious to see if they’ll keep up with the good quality stuff.

So I ordered my beauty box for Β£15 and after a week or so it came in the post. My first impression – you get what you pay for. Almost all of the products are in small sizes, that’s either a travel size or a sample size, I’m not really sure. I’ll write it down below about the products and the sizes so you can see what I’m talking about.

The only thing I was really impressed with was the box. I liked the colours and the message on the inside of the lit. Everything else was average even though there were couple of good products.

Booklet

The first thing I saw when I opened the box was a little booklet with some information about the products which was helpful.

Brand – AHAVA/ Size – 30g.(sample)/ Prize – Β£8,49-100g.
  1. Starting with this mineral mud soap bar for face and body. As it’s says in the description of the product, it purifies the skin without taking off its moisture. Let’s just say that for me it’s a no, no matter how much moisture it’ll leave or take, the smell is just disgusting and repulsive. Anyway, I gave it a try and it’s nothing special. Maybe it’s just my skin but for me it felt like an ordinary hand soap.

Brand – BRUSHWORKS. / Size – full size. / Prize – Β£4.

2. The second item in the box and one of the 2 full sized products is this double ended eyebrow brush. I was very disappointed. First of all, I don’t do my brows so I won’t even use it but even in that case I wasn’t happy when I opened the little box and one of the ends was broken. I contacted the company and they said they’ll send a replacement so I’ll keep you updated. I want to try this brush even though I won’t use it regularly.

Brand – Lottie London. / Size – 1,1g. / Prize – Β£4,95.

3. Another full sized product is this black pencil eyeliner with a retractable sharpener. Brand – Lottie London. Size – 1,1g. Prize – Β£4,95. This is maybe the only product that will come in hand and I’m happy to use in my makeup routine. It’s a soft gel pencil so it’s easy to draw a line or to blend with another eye makeup. But is it worth the Β£15 I paid for the box? Let’s have a look at the other stuff.

Brand – Christophe Robin. / Size 50g.(sample)/ Prize – Β£54- 250g.

4. Next up it this revitalising hair mask for dry and damaged hair. I don’t know what’s up with the aroma in this box but this is the second product that smells like hell. It makes my eyes water when I smell it. It’s a shame because it’s a really good quality. It made my hair soft and looking healthy even though it’s been bleached lots of times. I like this mask but I won’t be buying it again. In my opinion for that much money they could fix the aroma and make it less repulsive. But I’d recommend it to anyone with damaged hair and some money to spend.

Brand – FAB (First Aid Beauty)./ Size – 10 pads. (sample)/Prize – Β£30- 60 pads.

5. Another product sample to try – Coconut water cream moisturiser or Facial Radiance pads. They put one of them in your box. I got the pads. You’re supposed to use 1 to wipe over face and neck after cleansing. The pads I got are not really big sized so I’d say you’ll need to use 2 of them. As a mom of a 5 months old baby, I don’t really have the time to do a full face cleansing routine so I’d appreciate just one product that does the job. I either use face scrub, face wipes or cleansing micellar water. I found this product useful if you want to freshen up your face but if I’m going to buy it for these money I’d expect stronger cleanser so I can use it to remove my makeup.

Brand – Bloom and Blossom./ Size – 15g (sample). / Prize – Β£6- 25g.

6. The sixth item is a multi-tasking skin balm. I like this product. It leaves the dry skin hydrated and soft. One thing that I don’t like about it is the smell. Again. For me and my nose, it wasn’t a nice experience but at least it helps with dry hands and lips which I’m always grateful for.

Brand – Polaar./ Size – 20ml (sample). / Prize – Β£28- 50ml.

7. The seventh and last product in my box was this face mask/ treatment with iceberg water and hyaluronic acid. Basically it’s a moisturising cream with all the good ingredients to make your dry skin looking healthy and fresh. Finally, I’m happy with the smell and the qualities of an item. I’d definitely recommend it to people looking for a good moisturiser after cleansing.

Overall, my impression of Look Fantastic beauty box is average. 3 out of 7 products that I’m happy with, which is not too bad. But this was my personal experience, I hope it’s better for you if you decide to try it.

Anyways, I hope you liked my little review post and I’m open for any suggestions.
