Nowadays you can buy almost everything on Amazon – from homeware and tools to books and clothes. And let me tell you, I love Amazon.

A year ago I moved in with my partner into our first flat together and we started making it cosier – our first family home. A little bit of this, and little bit of that, we had to begin with the kitchen.

While I was living alone (renting a room in a friend’s house, because London is quite expensive rent-wise), I didn’t really needed much – 1 plate, 1 bowl, 1 cooking pot, a spoon and a fork. The simple life of a singleton.

But then, all of a sudden, we had a whole kitchen for ours and no pots to cook in (just the one “barrel” I had from before). So we had do to some shopping but being in lockdown doesn’t really give you much choice and we ended up looking through Amazon. And actually, they have some pretty good stuff. This is what we got so far for our little family kitchen.

  1. Cookware – This was on top of my list. I love cooking but having a big metal pot and a small old pan wasn’t really helpful to me so I was looking for something useful and cheap at the same time. So I found this set from Amazon. At first, I was a bit sceptic because it’s Amazon basics brand and I didn’t know if the quality is good and if it’s worth the money. So after reading a lot of reviews on it, I decided to risk it and I got the set. It’s a 15-piece non-stick cookware set – counting the lids and the everything. It includes 20 cm fry pan, 25 cm fry pan, 1.41 L sauce pan with lid, 2.12 L sauce pan with lid, 2.83 L casserole pan with lid, 4.73 L casserole pan with lid, and 5-piece utensil set with pasta server, soup ladle, slotted turner, serving spoon, and slotted serving spoon. I’ve been using it few months already and I’m pretty happy with it. It’s definitely worth the money (when I bought it it was on sale for Β£50). So if you’re in need of a good cookware set for under Β£100, this one is for you.

2. Of course, we needed some extra dinnerware so went for something simple – white. We got this one from Amazon – a good quality set of 16 pieces dinnerware. It includes 4 of each: 27 cm dinner plate, 21 cm dessert plate, 14 x 7 cm bowl, and 10 cm tall mug. That’s pretty much what we need – nothing fancy but it does the job and it’s under Β£30.

3. Next thing on the list for kitchen essentials – silverware. Also Amazon Basics brand. Good quality, simple design, set of 30 pieces under Β£20 – what more do you want? It includes 6 knives, 6 forks, 6 salad forks, 6 spoons, and 6 teaspoons.

4. While we’re on the silverware subject, we got this 6-compartment drawer organiser. To be honest, it’s not what I wanted in the beginning but the one I liked was too big for our small kitchen drawers so we went for this one and I’m not disappointed at all. I love it! It’s pretty simple in grey colour with rubber inner base and easy to clean. Under Β£10.

5. Now, this thing I got recently but I’ve been using it a lot. It’s a set of 2 peelers and a small grater. Very good quality. Usually I hate grating things – it’s a hard work, I never really got the hang of it. But I love this little grater – so quick and you can just grate the amount of cheese you want straight on top of the dish without. Don’t get me wrong, I still use the big metal grater I’ve got if I have to grate lots of veggies or cheese but if you just need a little sprinkle of parmesan on your pasta or a quick grate of a garlic clove for your dish then this is perfect for it. The peelers are great as well – good grip, stable and sharp blade. It’s under Β£10 and it comes in this pretty pastel mint colour. I can’t recommend it enough.

6. This thing I got just because I wanted to. It was on sale and it’s pretty cool. Basically, having the rainbow in your kitchen. I wanted to have a little something that pops out because our kitchen is mostly white with a bit of black. So I got this set of 15 pieces silicone cooking utensils. It has slotted turner, solid turner, deep soup ladle, pasta server, flexible spatula, spoon spatula, spreader spatula, slotted spatula, bating brush, egg whisk, slotted spoon, solid spoon, kitchen tongs and a holder. It’s very handy and it looks cute.

7. This one is not really essential but if you have a 6-month old baby, you might need one. This blender is amazing – blends everything so I can make different food for our baby. And you can also makes milkshakes and smoothies. In my opinion, everyone should have a blender in the kitchen. It’s really helpful and useful. I got mine as a present but I found it on Amazon. I know there’re cheap ones that does the job but this one is just the best I’ve ever tried. And it’s pretty.

8. Last but not least – a water filter jug. I wasn’t sure if I should include it in this list but it’s very helpful and I think more people need to start using it.

And that’s it for now. I may do another list with Amazon stuff for the living room and the bathroom, because like I said, I love Amazon. If you have any recommendations for kitchenware, you’re welcome to leave a comment. I’m always open for suggestions.
